Behind the curtain: Introduction

Hi, I’m Lydia a photographer who works primarily within the music industry. During my time as a fan and photographer I always couldn’t help but notice all the people behind the scenes involved with delivering and showing off a live show. From the artist’s themselves, to tour managers, booking agents, sound technicians, lighting technicians, venue managers, security, managers, rodies, other photographers, you get the gist.

I always wanted to work on a project highlighting those people, the ones most don’t see or forget. Show off their jobs, and document just how everyone works together to make something that fans see and that sticks with them. It’s not just jobs, it’s careers and livelihood's, its passions and hard work. Thats what keeps every element of the touring and live music scene running.

As a result I am currently working on Behind the curtain, highlighting live music and the people behind the scenes which make tours/shows happen and are shown off, showcasing and documenting it here. Photographs and write ups of these people working in their element, and where possible comments from the crew or band about what its like working within the live music/touring sector.

I look forward to showing off a section of the music industry which runs constantly, but most don’t see how.
