Behind the Curtain: Introduction
Hi, I’m Lydia a photographer specialising in photojournalism and capturing a more unguarded and stripped back real version of people in portraits and images. During my time as a fan and photographer I always couldn’t help but notice all the people behind the scenes involved with delivering and executing entertainment, from live music to films and TV.
As a result, over the year’s I have developed a passion for showcasing not just the artist’s themselves, but documenting and capturing the people behind the scenes that make everything we see possible. From the artist’s and actors themselves, to managers, press agents, costume artists, booking agents, sound technicians, lighting technicians, gaffers, tour managers, venue managers, health and safety teams, security, set dressers, rodies, other photographers, you get the gist!
I always wanted to work on a project highlighting those people, the ones most don’t see or forget, as well as presenting the people we think we do know in new lights. Show off the real them, their jobs, and document just how everyone works together to make something that fans see and that sticks with them. It’s not just their jobs, it’s careers and livelihood's, its passions and hard work. Thats what keeps every element of the entertainment and music business running.
As a result I have started working on Behind the Curtain, I’m delving into the hidden world and workers of the entertainment, music and touring industry. Shining a spotlight on and showing off the creatives and techs that keep the industry running. As well as keeping shows and people looking good for everyone. Photographing and creating write ups of these people working in their element, and where possible comments and interviews about things not normally spoken about.
I look forward to showing off a section of the entertainment and music industry which runs constantly, but most don’t see how.
